IBPS PO Main Pattern

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the main exam pattern for the IBPS Probationary Officer (PO) exam. The main exam is scheduled to be held on 27th November 2021. It is important for candidates to be familiar with the exam pattern and marking scheme to plan their preparation effectively.

The IBPS PO main exam is an objective type test consisting of 155 questions divided into 4 sections. The exam is of 180 minutes duration. Check out the section-wise pattern and marking scheme below:

Section-wise pattern and marking scheme:

1. Reasoning and Computer Aptitude:

This section will have 45 questions and carries a total of 60 marks. The duration of the section will be 60 minutes. Each correct answer carries one mark, and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

2. General/Economy/Banking Awareness:

This section will have 40 questions and carries a total of 40 marks. The duration of the section will be 35 minutes. Each correct answer carries one mark, and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

3. English Language:

This section will have 35 questions and carries a total of 40 marks. The duration of the section will be 40 minutes. Each correct answer carries one mark, and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

4. Data Analysis and Interpretation:

This section will have 35 questions and carries a total of 60 marks. The duration of the section will be 45 minutes. Each correct answer carries one mark, and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Please note that there will be a descriptive writing test of 25 marks that candidates will have to attempt in 30 minutes. The test will be conducted in English and will test the candidate’s writing skills.

To prepare for the IBPS PO main exam, candidates must practice solving previous years’ question papers and take online mock tests available on various websites. It is also important to improve speed and accuracy as the exam is time-bound and each section has a strict time limit.
