The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) recruitment exam is conducted for primarily selecting candidates for the coveted job of assisting the locomotive pilot in the Indian Railways. This examination is conducted in different stages, and aspirants are to clear all the stages to get a job as an ALP. To help the candidates with their preparation, RRB ALP syllabus has been released. Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)- 1
Computer-Based Test (CBT)- 1 is the first stage of the RRB ALP recruitment process. Candidates have to undergo a multiple-choice question-based computerized test in this stage. The exam consists of 75 questions in total, wherein candidates will be tested on their abilities in Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness on current affairs.
The Mathematics section of RRB ALP CBT-1 covers Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Time and Work, Time and Distance, HCF, LCM, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Profit & Loss, Mensuration, and Geometry.
General Intelligence and Reasoning section of RRB ALP CBT-1 comprises Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, and Statement and Arguments.
The General Science section of RRB ALP CBT-1 includes Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
General Awareness section of RRB ALP CBT-1 comprises Indian Polity and Governance, Current national and international events, Indian Geography, Culture, and Heritage, Economy and Environmental Science.
Stage 2: Computer-Based Test (CBT)- 2
The RRB ALP CBT-2 aims to examine the technical knowledge of the candidates. The syllabus of the technical section comprises: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics/Mechatronics, and Automobile engineering. This section tests the aspirant’s knowledge of technical concepts and application skills. The CBT-2 consists of 100 questions and duration is 90 minutes.
Candidates are advised to go through standard textbooks of their respective engineering streams. These books cover all the necessary topics required to clear the CBT-2 examination.
Note-Taking during preparation for the RRB ALP CBT-2 examination is essential. Diagrams, flow charts, and notes can aid memory recall during revision.
Stage 3: Aptitude Test
The RRB ALP aptitude test aims to evaluate the decision-making and problem-solving skills of candidates. This aptitude test consists of five tests such as Memory Test, Depth Perception Test, Concentration Test, Perceptual Speed Test and Following Directions Test.
Candidates are advised to take several online aptitude tests, which will help in improving their speed, as well as accuracy of making the right calls in the test.
Stage 4: Document Verification
The final stage of the RRB ALP recruitment process is document verification. Candidates are required to submit the original documents which are mentioned in the “Document Verification List” at the time of the document verification process.
