The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the RRB Loco Pilot Exam to recruit candidates for the post of Loco Pilot in various departments of Indian Railways. The RRB Loco Pilot Exam consists of two stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Aptitude Test. The first stage of the exam is CBT, which is conducted in two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A is common for all candidates and contains questions related to Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. Part B is only for candidates who have opted for the ALP post. It contains questions related to the trade they have applied for.

Mathematics: This section comprises of questions from topics such as Number System, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Data Interpretation.
General Intelligence and Reasoning: This section tests the candidate’s ability to solve logical problems. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Classification, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Blood Relations, Direction Sense Test, Venn Diagrams, and Data Sufficiency.
General Awareness: In this section, questions are designed to test the candidate’s awareness of current events and general knowledge. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Indian Geography, History, Economy, Polity, Sports, Science and Technology, and Culture.
General Science: This section tests the candidate’s knowledge of various scientific concepts. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Trade-specific Part B: This section is only for candidates who opt for the ALP post. The syllabus for this section varies depending on the trade they have applied for. Some of the common topics include Basic Electricity, Electronic Engineering, Basic Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, and Computer Science.
The aptitude test is the second stage of the exam, which is for candidates who have qualified for the Part A and Part B of CBT. This test is designed to test the candidate’s cognitive and psychomotor abilities. The syllabus for the aptitude test includes topics such as Memory Test, Depth Perception Test, Spatial Scanning Test, and Visualization Test.
