Educational Qualification

For all posts under SSC CHSL, the minimum educational qualification required is:

  • Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Post-wise Educational Qualification

  1. Data Entry Operator (DEO):
    • Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
    • For the DEO post in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG):
      • 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  2. Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA):
    • Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
  3. Postal Assistant (PA) / Sorting Assistant (SA):
    • Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 27 years (as of the cut-off date specified in the official notification, typically 1st January of the exam year)

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD):
    • PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
    • PwD (OBC): 13 years
    • PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date.
  • Other categories as per government rules.

Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Physical Standards (For specific posts)

Some posts might require certain physical standards, particularly those in certain government ministries and departments, but this is not typically applicable to most posts under SSC CHSL.

Other Requirements

  • Computer Proficiency: Basic knowledge of computers is necessary for certain posts, especially for the Data Entry Operator (DEO) post.
  • Typing Speed: For posts like LDC/JSA and Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, a typing speed test is conducted, and candidates must meet the required typing speed criteria (35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi).
