The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases the syllabus for the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ examination every year to provide guidelines to the aspiring candidates. SSC Stenographer 2021 Syllabus includes topics from General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section is designed to test the cognitive skills of the candidates. It includes topics such as analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, and verbal/non-verbal reasoning.
General Awareness: The objective of the General Awareness section is to evaluate the knowledge of the candidates regarding current affairs and general knowledge. The syllabus includes topics from history, geography, economics, culture, science, and miscellaneous matters.
English Language & Comprehension: The English Language section aims to test the candidate’s proficiency in the English language. The syllabus includes topics such as comprehension, sentence structure, vocabulary, grammar, synonyms, antonyms, and sentence completion.
Skill Test: The skill test is a qualifying test that is conducted after the written examination. It includes two types of tests, viz., Stenography Skill Test and Computer Proficiency Test. The candidates should qualify in both the tests separately. The Stenography Skill Test is conducted to test the shorthand and typing skills of the candidates. The candidates should have a typing speed of 100 words per minute (WPM) for Grade ‘C’ and 80 WPM for Grade ‘D’. The Computer Proficiency Test is conducted to test the knowledge of candidates in basic computer operations like Word Processing, SpreadSheet, and internet browsing.
