The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Civil Services Exam 2023 Notification. The UPSC Civil Services Exam is considered one of the most prestigious examinations in India, and it is conducted annually to recruit candidates for various posts in the Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, Indian Foreign Services, and other central services.
The notification for the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023 was released on 14th February 2023 on the official website of UPSC. According to the official notification, the exam will be conducted in three stages, namely Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview. The preliminary exam is scheduled to be held on 4th June 2023, and the mains exam will start from 1st October 2023. The interview dates will be announced later, and the commission aims to complete the entire exam process by March 2024.
The Civil Services Exam is known for its rigorous selection process, and candidates have to clear each stage to appear for the next one. The preliminary exam comprises two papers, General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II, also known as CSAT. The total marks allotted for this stage are 400, and only those candidates who score above the cutoff marks are allowed to sit for the Mains Exam.
The Mains Exam is a written test, and it comprises nine papers, out of which two papers are qualifying in nature. The remaining seven papers carry a total of 1750 marks. The papers include Essay, General Studies Paper-I to IV, Optional Paper-I & II, and Language Paper-I & II. Once a candidate qualifies for the Mains Exam, he/she is called for the Interview round, which carries a total of 275 marks.
